So actually, I didn’t interview Frank Miller for the MTVery, but I did shake his hand and shoot a PSA with him for the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund! And that was awesome. Plus, I interviewed the funny, gregarious and talented Jeff Smith, the man behind “Bone” and the new “RASL.” AND I interviewed Colleen Doran, the woman behind the legendary “A Distant Soil.” Colleen and Jeff were part of the incredible self-publishing trend in comics that really hit its stride in the early-to-mid ’90s (Jessica Abel’s “Artbabe” is also a good example of this kinda stuff.)
There was an open bar, so Ces had a couple of delicious hard cider beer thingies, and I had a few sips and actually liked it. And we bought a signed Bone print for our cohabitational cohabitationism.
All in all, a delightfully geeky night!
But nothing compared to the geekery that shall unfold this weekend at New York Comic Con 2008.
‘Twill be insane.
INSANE, I tell you!
Open bar and you ordered Mike’s Hard Cider or whatnot?
Vodka, woman. Top shelf. OPEN BAR!! Take advantage whence you can.
And yay for you at least kickin’ it with Frank. You rock.
(Of course Frank, in his blog, wrote “Ooooh, I got to shake hands with Sara Benincasa from that TubTalk thing! Did you know she’s datin’ the guy who does that syndicated snark-fest cartoon, that Sally Forth??! I got to meet him too! And then had some Grey Goose for free at the open bar. What a great time!”
