In this post-racial world, after the coming of Barack Christ (no relation to Charlie–TRUST ME) saved us all from ourselves, it may seem quaint and amusing to consider that there remains such a thing as “the black perspective” or “the young black male perspective” or the “young black male comedian who grew up in Bed-Stuy, moved away, moved back, and now produces the Brooklyn Comedy Company shows and the Black Comedy Experiment Festival” perspective. Ah, but it is just such a perspective that brings you the work of my friend Elon James White, who recently chronicled his bafflement at the fact that we are friends.
