Ugh. I’ve been on the pill twice. Once was early 20s and ortho-tri-cycline. Made me gain weight but that was about it. Didn’t last long, I wasn’t having a lot of sex and I rationalized it would be cheaper and easier to use a condom than it is to buy pills every month and take them every day when they’re only really needed once every 90 days. And then again like 3 years ago – I don’t know what these were – ruined my cycle, I had always been regular and now was not; made me quite not in the mood and dry as the Sahara. I stopped those. And, now I’m married and all so we just do the do it and see what happens. so far, all of those pills, giant waste of money!

While I was on microgestin I experienced all of the above, depression, crying spells, loss of libido (which kind of defeats the purpose of even being on the damn things to begin with). It was quite frustrating until I realized it could be attributed to the pills, so I switched pills and have felt some, but not complete, relief of those symptoms. I’m on orthotricyclin now, any recommendations for pills with limited side effects?

oooohhh…Depo is the worst. When I went on it, it caused major hair loss…bad, bad mood swings…crying spells…not to mention, bad breakthrough. BOO! Unless you just can’t have estrogen (like me..again–boo), my personal fav was the Ortho Evra patch…it’s pretty awesome. Very little bad side effects, mental or physical.

How about pregnancy? I have gotten pregnant on every freaking form of BC out there; the pill, condoms, diaphragm, sponge, IUD. ALL OF THEM. I do have three beautiful children to attest to this so I guess it can’t be so bad…
